Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang nets a first-half hat trick as Unai Emery's first game in charge of Arsenal ends in a 8-0 win over Boreham Wood.

Unai Emery's first game in charge of Arsenal has ended in a 8-0 thrashing of Boreham Wood at Meadow Lane.

The Gunners were rampant in their first pre-season friendly of the campaign, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netting a first-half hat-trick inside the opening 17 minutes of the game.

Aubameyang's first goal came on seven minutes, the Gabon striker curling into the top corner from the edge of the box, while the second, a header from Ainsley Maitland-Niles's cross, came two minutes later.

Reiss Nelson was then brought down in the box just after the quarter-hour mark to gift Arsenal a penalty, which Aubameyang smashed into the roof of the net from the spot.

The first half ended with Arsenal five goals to the good as Nelson volleyed in off the bar on 35 minutes and Alexandre Lacazette finished neatly into the far corner following an Aubameyang delivery.

Emery played a different XI in the second half but the Gunners continued to dominate en route to three more goals, as Eddie Nketiah, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Henrikh Mkhitaryan got themselves onto the scoresheet.

Nketiah struck in the 53rd minute after connecting with Lucas Perez's cross, while Reine-Adelaide smashed home a solo effort on 71 minutes and Mkhitaryan converted Sead Kolasinac's through-ball eight minutes later.

The Gunners are next in action on July 26 when they face Atletico Madrid at the Singapore National Stadium.
