Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno called up to German squad

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno and former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry are drafted into the Germany squad to replace injured duo Kevin Trapp and Leon Goretzka.

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has been called up to the Germany squad for the upcoming matches against Netherlands and France.

Leno replaces Kevin Trapp in the squad for the UEFA Nations League double-header after the Eintracht Frankfurt shot-stopper was forced to withdraw with a muscle problem.

The 26-year-old has won six caps for his country in the past, with the last of those coming during World Cup qualifying more than a year ago.

Leno has started Arsenal's last four games following an injury to Petr Cech, who had been the club's number one at the start of the season despite Leno's summer arrival from Bayer Leverkusen.

Germany have also drafted in former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry to the squad, replacing his Bayern Munich teammate Leon Goretzka.

Joachim Low's side drew 0-0 with France in their Nations League opener last month and have now won just three of their last 11 fixtures across all competitions.
