Layton Williams is reportedly keen to be paired with a male professional on this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

Layton Williams has reportedly asked to be paired up with a male professional on this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

Same-sex pairings have become a regular part of the lineup on the BBC ballroom show over the last few years, although the duo of Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice only made it to week three in last year's competition.

Musical theatre star and actor Williams is rumoured to be part of the lineup for this year's show, and according to The Mirror, he is hoping to be part of the latest same-sex pair.

A source told the newspaper: "This year everyone is hoping for a same-sex couple who can go the distance. Layton is a phenomenal performer, the pros will probably queue up to work with him."

Graziano Di Prima has previously spoken about his desire to get a male partner and is a possible partner, while Johannes Radebe has previously teamed up with John Whaite and is also an option.

The new series is due to begin on BBC One in September, with the official contestant lineup expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
