The BBC has released the first trailer for the long-awaited new series of Doctor Who.

The new run - the 13th series since the show was revived - will introduce John Bishop as new companion Dan, while it is also rumoured to be Jodie Whittaker's last full series as The Doctor.

In the first-look trailer, released at San Diego Comic-Con, Game of Thrones star Jacob Anderson is also revealed to be joining the show in a recurring role as new character Vinder.

The new series comprises eight episodes, plus a Christmas special, and is expected to air on BBC One later this year.
