The BBC releases two new pictures for the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special, 'Revolution of the Daleks'.

The BBC has released two new preview images from this year's Doctor Who Christmas special.

The episode, 'Revolution of the Daleks', follows directly on from the last episode of series 12, which saw The Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) arrested by the Judoon and taken to a prison spaceship.

The first picture - released after a special virtual panel at New York Comic-Con - shows The Doctor seemingly still in prison, etching out numbers on a wall.

The second shows her companions Graham (Bradley Walsh), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Yas (Mandip Gill) deep in conversation around a table.

Little is known about the episode, although a description released earlier this year reads: "The Doctor is locked away in a high-security alien prison. Isolated, alone, with no hope of escape.

"Far away, on Earth, her best friends, Yaz, Ryan and Graham have to pick up their lives without her.

"But it's not easy. Old habits die hard. Especially when they discover a disturbing plan forming.

"A plan which involves a Dalek. How can you fight a Dalek, without the Doctor?"

The episode - filmed before the coronavirus outbreak - is believed to feature the departures of both Walsh and Cole ahead of series 13, which has recently begun filming and is due to air next year.
