Todd Boyce will reportedly reprise his role as Stephen, Audrey's son, in Coronation Street in the coming months.

Todd Boyce will reportedly reprise his role as Stephen Reid on Coronation Street later this year.

First appearing in 1996, Stephen is the son of Audrey (Sue Nicholls) and older half-brother of Gail (Helen Worth) who was originally from Canada and now lives in Italy.

The character was last seen on screen in 2007 for a fleeting Christmas visit, but according to the Daily Star, he will return after 15 years for a storyline involving his mother's health.

"There are concerns about her welfare and her drinking and so when Stephen comes back, she finds herself comforted by his support," a source said.

"It's the start of a big Platt story that will put Audrey at the centre of the action again – the rest of the Platts will be suspicious over Stephen and what he wants.

"So what is he after and should Audrey be listening to the rest of the clan?"

The news comes weeks after it was announced that Martin Hancock would be reprising his role as Spider Nugent after a 19-year absence.
