Arlene Foster, the former First Minister of Northern Ireland and ex-leader of the DUP, has joined GB News as a contributor.

The 51-year-old was a key figure in the last parliament as her party's support enabled Theresa May's Conservative government to maintain a majority through confidence and supply.

Having stepped down from office last month, Foster will now be part of GB News' Sunday morning show The Political Correction, which is hosted jointly by Conservative MP Deanna Davidson, Nigel Farage and Labour trade unionist Paul Embery.

"It's very exciting to be here with such an august number of people this morning," she said during her first appearance on today's show.

"Two reasons really - first of all I see it as an opportunity to have a space for civilised discussion in a meaningful way; very often political programmes are short and snappy and there's not an opportunity to develop stories.

"The second reason is to bring Northern Ireland very much into the mainstream of UK politics and it's something I feel very passionate about - something I've thought about since I was a student, a very long time ago - so that is the opportunity here on GB News and I'm really looking forward to it."

The addition of Foster in a contributing role is the latest shakeup one month on from the channel's launch, with Farage also being drafted in to host a weekday evening show and Mark Dolan joining the station to take over weekend evenings.
