Great Britain's Lynsey Sharp produces a confident run to reach the women's 800m final at the Olympic Games.

Great Britain's Lynsey Sharp has earned a place in the women's 800m final after finishing in second spot in her semi-final.

Sharp had been drawn alongside Caster Semenya and as expected, the South African cruised into the final but the British representative remained composed in the battle for second position.

At the final bend, three athletes were in contention for automatic qualification but Sharp remained strong to finish in a time of 1:58.65.

However, there was disappointment for teammate Shelayna Oskan-Clarke who could only finish in fifth place in the second semi-final.
