Tom Brady breaks an NFL comeback record set by Peyton Manning as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fight back to defeat the New Orleans Saints 17-16.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has earned another slice of NFL history after inspiring the NFC South champions to a 17-16 comeback win over the New Orleans Saints on Monday night.

The Bucs found themselves having to make up a 3-13 deficit heading into the fourth quarter, and their task was made all the more difficult following Will Lutz's 29-yard field goal.

However, with just three minutes left to play, Brady threw a one-yard touchdown pass for Cade Otton before repeating the trick for Rachaad White with a six-yard pass in the final three seconds.

Ryan Succop - who had put the Bucs ahead in the first quarter with a 21-yard field goal - kicked for the decisive extra points on both occasions, as Brady recorded his 44th fourth-quarter comeback.

The 45-year-old, who had retired from the NFL in February before reversing his decision 40 days later, was tied with Peyton Manning on 43 fourth-quarter comebacks before inspiring his side to a sixth win of the season at Raymond James Stadium.

"I missed some throws early, but I'm really proud of our team for hanging in there against a team we've always struggled with," Brady told reporters after completing 36 of 54 passes for 281 yards. "It's awesome by our team. It's a great effort by the defence to hang in there all day."

The result keeps Todd Bowles's side top of the NFC South with six wins and six losses in the 2022 season, and their next game sees them travel to face the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium on Sunday. body check tags ::
