Saturday's Championship predictions including Stoke vs. Brentford

:Headline: Saturday's Championship predictions including Stoke vs. Brentford: ID:407003: from db_amp
Sports Mole provides score predictions for all of Saturday's Championship action, including Stoke City vs. Brentford.

Charlton vs. Wigan (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Wigan Athletic travel to The Valley to face Charlton Athletic knowing that victory could be enough to secure their Championship future, despite the prospect of suffering a 12-point deduction due to being placed into administration.

Meanwhile, the Addicks head into Saturday's encounter sitting a point above the relegation zone with a superior goal difference to their rivals.

We say: Charlton Athletic 1-2 Wigan Athletic

Charlton have shown in the past that they are capable of keeping things tight at the back. However, on the back of such a commanding win in midweek, we cannot predict anything other than a Wigan win, potentially via a late goal.

Stoke vs. Brentford (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Brentford square off against Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to extend their winning run in the Championship to nine matches.

Meanwhile, the Potters play host to the promotion contenders realistically requiring just one point to guarantee their second-tier status for another 10 months.

We say: Stoke City 1-2 Brentford

While we feel that this contest could be more competitive than many expect, Brentford will be confident of eventually wearing down their hosts, potentially during the latter stages when Stoke are content to avoid defeat.

Preston vs. Birmingham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Preston North End know that only victory will do against Birmingham City this weekend if they are to keep their slim hopes of Championship promotion alive.

The Lilywhites have fallen five points adrift of the playoffs with two games to go following a poor run of form, while Birmingham have also struggled for wins and are down in 19th.

We say: Preston 2-0 Birmingham

Preston may have struggled for wins either side of the three-month hiatus, but Birmingham's form has been even worse. The Blues have failed to win any of their last 15 matches in all competitions and have lost four of their last five, a run that we can see being extended this weekend.

Swansea vs. Bristol City (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Two clubs that have seen their playoff hopes dwindle in recent weeks will lock horns in the Championship on Saturday as Swansea City welcome Bristol City to the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea currently occupy eighth spot - three adrift of the top six - whereas Bristol City lie 10th before the penultimate round of fixtures.

We say: Swansea City 2-3 Bristol City

The two clubs will certainly not want to give up hope of a top-six finish just yet, but the odds are stacked against both sides heading into the penultimate round of fixtures. That being said, Swansea are short at the back due to injuries and Bristol City are brimming with confidence right now, so we are backing a slender away win in what promises to be a fascinating affair this weekend.

Middlesbrough vs. Cardiff (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Relegation-threatened Middlesbrough host promotion-chasing Cardiff City at the Riverside Stadium in the penultimate round of Championship action.

Both teams picked up big victories in midweek to keep their respective fates in their own hands, but the pressure is still on as Neil Warnock prepares to face his former club.

We say: Middlesbrough 0-1 Cardiff City

Middlesbrough are without a home win since Boxing Day, losing half of their 10 matches at the Riverside Stadium since then. A defeat to Fulham last week aside, Cardiff have been in great form on their travels and we expect them to make it four wins in a row against Boro - all the by the same scoreline - in this weekend's clash.

QPR vs. Millwall (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Promotion contenders Millwall travel to mid-table Queens Park Rangers this weekend in the penultimate round of Championship fixtures.

Millwall currently sit two points adrift of the top six as things stand, whereas QPR lie in 16th and have little to play for at this very late stage.

We say: QPR 1-2 Millwall

Millwall know what is at stake here - anything other than a win and their promotion hopes may be dead and buried before the final day of the season. QPR have struggled for form recently, though, so we are backing Millwall to keep their playoff dream alive with a narrow victory on Saturday.

Blackburn vs. Reading (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Blackburn Rovers and Reading meet on Saturday afternoon with little to play for during the closing two games of the Championship campaign.

However, having both suffered defeats in midweek, there will be an eagerness to return to winning ways at Ewood Park.

We say: Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Reading

All things considered, this is a difficult match to call. However, we are favouring the visitors, who have shown more consistency than their hosts in recent weeks.

Fulham vs. Sheff Weds (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Fulham will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Championship when they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to Craven Cottage in their penultimate regular season fixture.

The Cottagers were held by West Bromwich Albion last time out to all but end their automatic promotion hopes, while Wednesday played out a stalemate with Huddersfield Town to remain 15th.

We say: Fulham 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Fulham's automatic promotion hopes may well be over by the time they kick off against Wednesday, but Parker will want to keep his side's positive form going regardless. The Whites have won four of their last five home matches without conceding and we are backing them to come out on top this weekend.

Hull City vs. Luton (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Crisis club Hull City will be looking to bounce back from a humiliating defeat last time out when they take on fellow bottom-three side Luton Town on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers suffered an 8-0 loss to Wigan Athletic on Tuesday to leave them level on points with Luton, who earned a draw against Queens Park Rangers on the same day.

We say: Hull City 0-1 Luton Town

Quite how Hull will react to their eight-goal thrashing at the hands of Wigan - a fourth defeat on the spin - remains to be seen. Luton have made themselves tough to beat of late and now need to turn draws into wins, with this trip to the KCOM Stadium presenting them with a huge opportunity to do exactly that.
