West Ham United have allegedly identified Roma boss Jose Mourinho as a future managerial target.

Under current incumbent David Moyes, the Hammers have enjoyed an upturn in fortunes, the Scot guiding the club to two top-seven finishes in the Premier League and the Europa League semi-finals.

However, while West Ham are currently preparing for a Europa Conference League last-16 tie with AEK Larnaca, their form in the top flight has come in for constant criticism.

As it stands, the East London outfit in 16th position in the standings having collected just 23 points from their 25 matches during 2022-23.

Despite suffering a 4-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, reports have suggested that Moyes is currently not facing the sack at the London Stadium.

Nevertheless, depending on the outcome of their upcoming triple-header in Europe and the Premier League ahead of the international break, there is scope for that to change.

According to LaRoma24.It, the English side have expressed an interest in potentially appointing Mourinho in the future.

The report claims that the Portuguese has been provided with 'a remarkable offer' to take on another stint in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, it is suggested that the 60-year-old remains keen to remain at Stadio Olimpico for the foreseeable future, despite being said to be grateful for the proposal put in front of him.

Having lost his role at Tottenham Hotspur, Mourinho quickly accepted the opportunity to become the new manager of Roma from 2021-22 onwards, the hope being that he would help the club return to the top of Italian football.

While that remains a work in progress, Mourinho guided Roma to the Europa Conference League trophy in his first season in charge, and I Giallorossi are currently in the last 16 of the Europa League.

Most notably for Roma, they occupy fourth spot in Serie A as they bid to earn a return to the Champions League, although they only sit ahead of AC Milan on goal difference.

Mourinho, also formerly of Chelsea and Manchester United among other clubs, possesses a contract at Roma which does not expire until the end of 2023-24.
