Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that both David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger picked up injuries during Wednesday's La Liga clash with Las Palmas.

Alaba was replaced in the latter stages of the first half against Los Amarillos, with the Austria international picking up an abductor problem, which is likely to rule him out of Saturday's game with Girona.

Rudiger managed to complete the full 90 minutes of the team's 2-0 win, but the German picked up a knock which has made him a slight doubt for the clash with Girona.

Los Blancos are already missing Eder Militao due to a long-term knee injury, but Ferland Mendy has recently returned to fitness, while Dani Carvajal was back on the bench against Las Palmas after overcoming a muscular problem.

"We have recovered Mendy and we are going to recover Carvajal for the next game. Rudiger is touched, it's a blow, but we think it's going to be fine for the next game," Ancelotti told reporters on Wednesday.

"The Alaba thing is a problem with the abductor and I don't think he'll be there on Saturday.

"We have to see how Rudiger and Nacho recover. Marvel and [Alvaro] Carrillo, from the academy, who are very good, have also trained with us. I think Rudiger is going to be fine."

Real Madrid are also missing Thibaut Courtois due to a long-term knee injury, while summer signing Arda Guler is facing another spell out with a thigh problem.

Brahim Diaz and Joselu scored the goals against Las Palmas on Wednesday, with Los Blancos bouncing back from their 3-1 loss to Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby at the weekend.

"I am worried about the end of the second half, that we have slowed down and we have not had good control of the game defending very low with little intensity. We try to start strong to avoid problems and recover a lot of balls," Ancelotti told reporters after the match.

"In the first part there was only a lack of success and in the second intensity. It's a time of the season when all the teams lower the intensity because the wear and tear is quite large."

Ancelotti also confirmed that Guler's injury will keep him out for "a little longer".

"It was bad luck. He finished yesterday's training well and even scored the last goal of the match. Then he noticed something in his thigh and was diagnosed with a small injury," he said.

"The player is sad because he was fine. We still have to wait a little longer. It's a small thing, but it hasn't let him be available and give him minutes today. That was the idea."

Real Madrid have won six and lost one of their seven league matches this season, with a total of 18 points leaving them in second position in the table. body check tags ::
