Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos.
The Ligue 1 giants have enjoyed a productive 2023-24 summer transfer window, acquiring a mixture of eight players that have been earmarked for the present and future.
However, at a time when Lionel Messi has departed on a free transfer and PSG want to part ways with Kylian Mbappe, securing the services of a new frontman was imperative.
While the likes of Victor Osimhen, Harry Kane and Dusan Vlahovic have all been linked with a switch to Parc des Princes, the French outfit have instead decided to press ahead with the addition of Ramos.
PSG have revealed that the 22-year-old has agreed to move to the capital on a season-long loan deal with the option of a permanent transfer in 2024.
Although a future fee has not been revealed, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says that an €80m (£68.9m) deal is in place, a €65m (£55.98m) guaranteed fee with €15m (£12.92m) payable as add-ons.
Speaking to the club's official website, Ramos said: "I'm very proud and happy to join Paris Saint-Germain. PSG are one of the biggest clubs in the world with one of the best squads."
President Nasser Al-Khelaifi added: "We are very happy to welcome Gonçalo Ramos as an exciting new striker in our PSG family.
"Gonçalo is a fantastic international player, who is young, hungry and fights for the team. It is these kinds of players who are the future of our great institution."
Ramos leaves Benfica having contributed a total of 41 goals and 16 assists from 106 appearances in all competitions, 27 of his strikes coming during the 2022-23 campaign.
The Portugal international was part of the Benfica XI that recorded two 1-1 draws versus PSG in the Champions League group stages and which eventually reached the quarter-finals.
On the international stage, Ramos has four goals from seven appearances for his country, three of which was netted during a last-16 tie with Switzerland at the World Cup in December.
With PSG beginning their league campaign at Lorient on Saturday, Ramos will hope to come into contention for an immediate debut. body check tags ::
