Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga is wanted by a trio of clubs, according to a report.

The 26-year-old has scored 115 goals in 278 matches for Boro, Nottingham Forest, Peterborough and Southend.

Fourteen of those goals came last time out in a disappointing campaign for the Smoggies, who may have to offload certain key men this summer after missing out on promotion.

A report carried by Wales Online claims that Scottish champions Celtic are weighing up an offer for the prolific hitman, as are Boro's Championship rivals Cardiff City and Bristol City.

Assombalonga spent the summer playing at the Africa Cup of Nations with Congo DR, whose campaign ended six days ago with a penalty-shootout defeat to Madagascar in the last 16.
