Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up should Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang arrive at the club.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in bringing Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the club during this summer's transfer window.

The 30-year-old has been in impressive form for the Gunners during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring 20 times in 32 appearances in all competitions, including 17 in the Premier League.

The Gabon international will see his contract at the Emirates Stadium expire next summer, though, and it has been suggested that Arsenal could listen to offers in the region of £50m.

Former Gunners forward Paul Merson has claimed that bringing Aubameyang to Old Trafford could help the 20-time English champions become "a major force".

Here, Sports Mole looks at how United could line up should the former Borussia Dortmund striker arrive at Old Trafford for the 2020-21 campaign.

United have faced plenty of criticism this season, but the fact that they have kept nine clean sheets in their last 11 matches in all competitions is an indication of their defensive improvement.

It seems likely that the Red Devils will start next season with their usual back five intact, while Fred's improvement this season has been obvious, meaning that the Brazilian international deserves to keep a starting role regardless of what happens in this summer's transfer window.

Bruno Fernandes is more than capable of operating in a deeper position for United, and it would not be a surprise to see the Portuguese as part of a midfield two, particularly as Paul Pogba is widely expected to move on this summer, potentially for as little as £55m.

Aston Villa's Jack Grealish and Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho are both thought to be leading targets for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side and could form a very exciting attacking trio alongside Marcus Rashford, who scored 19 times in 31 appearances before picking up a back injury in January.

Anthony Martial has been impressive in recent weeks and currently has 16 goals in all competitions this season but all top teams need options in the final third. As a result, the France international could be rotated out of the side with Aubameyang handed the role at the tip of the attack.

Aubameyang has played off the left for Arsenal on a number of occasions but is more comfortable through the middle, and it would be hard not to draw comparisons with Robin van Persie should United complete a summer deal for the Arsenal captain.

A record of 61 goals in 97 appearances for the Gunners must be respected, while the Gabonese netted 141 times in 213 appearances for Dortmund before moving to the Emirates Stadium.

The thought of Rashford and Sancho supporting Aubameyang with Grealish and Fernandes providing creativity from a central position is a potentially frightening thought for United's rivals.
