Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt will reportedly reveal the destination of his next club 'in the coming days'.

Barcelona are believed to be the favourites for the 19-year-old and are still widely expected to secure his signature in this summer's transfer window.

Manchester United, however, have also been strongly linked with the Netherlands international, with the Red Devils reportedly prepared to pay the centre-back more money in addition to meeting his agent's demands.

According to The Telegraph, United will soon learn whether they have been successful in signing the Dutchman, who is regarded as one of the best youngsters in world football.

De Ligt scored seven times and contributed four assists in 55 appearances for Ajax as the Dutch giants landed a league and cup double during the 2018-19 season.

United are expected to move for at least one new centre-back this summer after conceding 54 goals during the 2018-19 Premier League campaign.
