Paul Scholes: 'Manchester United three or four signings off Liverpool'

:Headline: Paul Scholes: 'Manchester United three or four signings off Liverpool':
Paul Scholes says that Manchester United are still "three or four signings" away from being Premier League title challengers.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has claimed that the Red Devils are still "three or four signings" away from being challengers for the Premier League title.

United have not won the league since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure, and the 20-time English champions are currently 37 points behind leaders Liverpool in this season's Premier League table.

Scholes has said that Bruno Fernandes's January arrival was a step in the right direction, but the Englishman has conceded that his former side are still "a bit off the pace".

"I still think they are a bit off the pace, they've looked good lately since Fernandes came in but Liverpool and Manchester City are streets ahead," Scholes told BBC Sport. "There are three or four signings that can help but for the first time in a long time you feel like they could close the gap to the top."

Aston Villa's Jack Grealish and Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho are both believed to be leading targets for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in this summer's transfer window.

United, though, have allegedly not yet made a decision on the future of on-loan forward Odion Ighalo as they weigh up other options on the market. body check tags ::
