Manchester United could move for RB Leipzig forward Lois Openda during next summer's transfer window, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly closely monitoring RB Leipzig's Lois Openda with a view to potentially making a move for him during next summer's transfer window.

The 23-year-old scored 21 times in 38 Ligue 1 appearances for Lens during the 2022-23 campaign before moving to Bundesliga outfit Leipzig in the recent market.

Openda has been in impressive form for his new club, scoring five goals and registering two assists in 11 appearances, including four goals and two assists in seven Bundesliga matches.

There has recently been speculation surrounding a potential January exit, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United all believed to have expressed an interest in a mid-season move.

However, Leipzig have allegedly made it clear that they will refuse to let the Belgium international depart in the middle of the campaign.

The situation may potentially change next summer, and according to Football Insider, Man United could make an offer for him at the end of the campaign.

The report claims that the Red Devils will monitor his form throughout the season, and if he continues to impress, there could be a big-money bid arriving from Old Trafford.

Openda spent the latter stages of his youth career at Club Brugge before progressing to the first team, but he only managed five goals in 53 appearances for the club in all competitions.

The attacker found his feet in the professional game at Vitesse, scoring 37 goals and registering 11 assists in 88 appearances for the club ahead of a move to Lens.

Openda's excellent form in Ligue 1 last season, netting 21 times, saw him earn a move to Leipzig, with the Bundesliga side said to have beaten a number of clubs to his signature.

The forward is also a nine-time Belgium international, scoring twice, and he is in their squad for the Euro 2024 qualification matches against Austria and Sweden in the coming days.

Man United signed Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta BC last summer, and the Denmark international has scored three times for the club this season.

The Red Devils remain light when it comes to the centre-forward spot, though, and Anthony Martial's future is currently the subject of much discussion.

Martial's contract is due to expire at the end of the campaign, and it is understood that the Frenchman is considering pushing for a move away next year in search of regular starts. body check tags ::
