Barcelona are reportedly considering a mid-season move for Leicester City's Youri Tielemans.

The Belgium international was heavily linked with a move away from the Foxes over the summer, but the transfer window closed with the midfielder remaining at the King Power Stadium.

Tielemans's contract is due to expire at the end of June, though, and he is not expected to sign an extension with Brendan Rodgers's side.

Arsenal and Manchester United have both been credited with an interest in the midfielder, who was in action for Belgium at the 2022 World Cup.

However, according to Fichajes, there is also genuine interest from Barcelona, with the Catalan outfit considering making a move during the January transfer window.

As it stands, Barcelona would be able to open contract talks with Tielemans in January, but they would have to wait until the end of the campaign to sign him on a free transfer.

The Catalan side could attempt to agree a fee with Leicester in the winter window, although it is unclear whether the Foxes would be prepared to let him leave in the middle of the campaign.

Tielemans has again been a key player for his English club this season, scoring three goals and registering one assist in 17 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, he has made 175 appearances for Leicester since his arrival from Monaco, contributing 27 goals and 25 assists in the process, establishing himself as one of the most consistent midfielders in the Premier League.

Earlier this season, Leicester boss Rodgers admitted that he could not guarantee the midfielder would be signing a new contract at the King Power Stadium.

"Youri's been a fantastic professional for us, even though he's in the situation with his contract, he's never wavered with his mentality and what he gives to the team," Rodgers told reporters.

"Youri provides the team with a great know-how in the game. He's a wonderful player to work with.

"I'll just continue to work and develop his game while he's here, however long that is. I'd love him to sign another deal and continue his journey here. We'll see in the coming months."

Barcelona's midfield could be overhauled next summer, as Sergio Busquets is out of contract, while Franck Kessie and Frenkie de Jong are being linked with moves away from the club. body check tags ::
