How Manchester United could line up against Liverpool

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester United could line up for their Premier League showdown with Liverpool on Thursday night.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could elect to make changes in the double figures for Thursday's visit of Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have confirmed that Harry Maguire will spend time on the sidelines with ligament damage to his ankle, and he is joined in the treatment room by Daniel James, Phil Jones and Anthony Martial.

With Thursday's game representing Man United's third outing in five days, Solskjaer will make significant alterations once more, with the entire contingent from Tuesday's defeat to Leicester City at risk of dropping out.

David de Gea enjoyed a rare Premier League outing in goal but will make way for new number one Dean Henderson, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw set to return ahead of Brandon Williams and Alex Telles.

One of Axel Tuanzebe and Eric Bailly will keep their place alongside the returning Victor Lindelof in defence, and the latter - who recently committed his future to the club until 2024 - may be given the nod.

Fred and Scott McTominay will demote Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic to the bench, while Bruno Fernandes will seek his 18th league goal of the season as he replaces Juan Mata in the number 10 role.

Amad Diallo and Anthony Elanga made their full Premier League debuts against Leicester, but both youngsters will make way as Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford return to the fold.

Mason Greenwood continued his hot streak with a well-taken goal against the Foxes, but having started both games against Aston Villa and Leicester, the teenager will likely be replaced by Edinson Cavani, now a United player until 2022.

Man United possible starting lineup: Henderson; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Bailly, Shaw; Fred, McTominay; Rashford, Fernandes, Pogba; Cavani
