Premier League Team of the Week - Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Ross Barkley

Sports Mole selects its Premier League team of the week for gameweek 10, including Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and three Chelsea players.

Gameweek 10 of the 2018-19 Premier League season will go down as one of the darkest in the competition's history following the tragic events at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.

Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha's helicopter crashed outside the ground following his side's 1-1 draw with West Ham United, killing him and four other people on board.

The devastating news came after Tottenham Hotspur and England legend Glenn Hoddle was rushed to hospital having suffered a heart attack, from which he is currently recovering.

On-pitch matters came a distant second, then, as Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea all extended their unbeaten starts to the season.

Bournemouth and Watford also continued their impressive runs beyond the quarter-way mark of the campaign, while Arsenal saw their 11-match winning streak ended by Crystal Palace.

Brighton & Hove Albion pulled off a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers while Manchester United were also one-goal winners against Everton on Sunday.

Here, Sports Mole selects its Premier League team of the week for gameweek 10.

There were plenty of impressive goalkeeping performances this weekend, with the likes of Mathew Ryan, Martin Dubravka, Lukasz Fabianski and Jordan Pickford all producing fine displays. The gloves in this team go to Watford's Ben Foster, though, as he made seven saves to keep Huddersfield Town at bay in a 3-0 win for the Hornets.

Foster is joined in the XI by teammate Kiko Femenia, whose assist in that game earns him a place just above the likes of Bruno, Matt Doherty and Cesar Azpilicueta. There is a Chelsea representative on the opposite flank, though, with Marcos Alonso just about getting the nod ahead of Ryan Bertrand and Alberto Moreno.

At the heart of the defence, Fabian Balbuena was part of a West Ham side which kept Leicester at bay until the 89th minute with 10 men, having opened the scoring himself and also hit the woodwork at the King Power. Southampton's Jack Stephens, who won a game-high eight aerial duels in the goalless draw with Newcastle United, joins him at centre-back.

There was not a great deal of competition for a place in defensive midfield either, with Fernandinho earning a selection for his destructive play on a difficult pitch against Tottenham. Crystal Palace's Luka Milivojevic scored twice, but both were from the spot and he was otherwise unable to keep Arsenal at bay.

It is in the front five positions where the competition for places really heats up, so much so that Watford's Roberto Pereyra does not make the team despite his fine solo effort. Instead, Bournemouth's Ryan Fraser - who registered two assists in a 3-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage - and Chelsea's in-form Ross Barkley, who tops even Fraser with a goal to add to his two assists, make up the midfield.

Chelsea's third representative in the team is Willian, who got on the scoresheet to help the Blues make light of Eden Hazard's absence in their 4-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor. Anthony Martial was also in the running for the wide berth, but Willian - who also hit the woodwork - was one of the standout performers of the entire weekend.

The XI is completed by Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, who made a mockery of questions over their form during a 4-1 win over Cardiff City. Salah continued his recent scoring streak with the opener, and went on to add two assists while Mane helped himself to two goals at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp's recent switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation means that Salah is able to lead the line through the middle, which is bad news for Bournemouth's Callum Wilson, who just misses out on a place in this team despite scoring twice against Fulham.
