Peter Schmeichel chooses Fred as his Manchester United Player of the Season

:Headline: Peter Schmeichel chooses Fred as his Manchester United Player of the Season:
Peter Schmeichel names Fred as his Manchester United Player of the Season after a much-improved second campaign at Old Trafford for the Brazilian midfielder.

Club legend Peter Schmeichel has selected Fred as his Manchester United Player of the Season.

The Brazilian midfielder has enjoyed a far better second campaign at Old Trafford, having struggled to adapt in his first 12 months after arriving from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Fred, who set United back around £52m, has appeared 38 times in all competitions this term and has been directly involved in six Premier League goals.

Asked during a Q&A session on Twitter who he believes has been United's best player this term, Schmeichel replied: "Fred".

Fred made only 17 top-flight appearances under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season.
