Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has said that Erik ten Hag "has high demands for everyone", with the Spaniard enjoying playing under the team's new head coach.

The 52-year-old has taken charge of 21 matches for Man United since his arrival, boasting a record of 14 wins, two draws and five defeats during a strong start.

The Red Devils lost their opening two matches of the 2022-23 Premier League season to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford, but they recovered impressively to beat Liverpool, and the team currently sit fifth in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand.

Man United were in strong form ahead of the break for the 2022 World Cup, winning six of their eight games in all competitions before the campaign was halted, including a 2-1 success at Fulham.

The Red Devils have played two mid-season friendlies in the last few days, losing 4-2 to Cadiz before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Real Betis.

The 20-time English champions are now preparing for the return of competitive action, which will come against Burnley in the fourth round of the EFL Cup on December 21.

Man United will then be back in Premier League action at home to Nottingham Forest on December 27.

The break has allowed Ten Hag to carefully analyse his start to life at Old Trafford, and De Gea has said that the Dutchman has "high demands for everyone" at the club.

"I think he has high demands for everyone, there is a lot of information. We are used to playing under him because we are learning a lot of new things as a team," De Gea told the UTD Podcast.

''I think we are enjoying it, we are training really hard with him. They are long training sessions, tactics, everything and I think we are heading the right way.

"We are playing really well, as you saw in the last game we showed we can play really well. We are winning games and that is the most important thing.''

De Gea was not involved in Man United's 4-2 loss to Cadiz last Wednesday, but he played the opening half of the 1-0 defeat to Real Betis on Saturday. body check tags ::
