The January transfer window is now open, with Manchester United continuing to be linked with a host of big names.

The Red Devils have already agreed a deal to sign Amad Traore, and could look to bolster their ranks further to build on an encouraging first half of the season.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Old Trafford.

Friday morning's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup:

Manchester United 'offered chance to sign Edin Dzeko'

Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Roma forward Edin Dzeko in the final stages of the January transfer window.

The 34-year-old has scored 114 goals in 242 appearances for his Italian club, including eight strikes in 20 outings in all competitions during the 2020-21 campaign.

Dzeko might have played his last game for I Giallorossi, though, having fallen out with the club's head coach Paulo Fonseca.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, United have been offered the opportunity to sign the striker as a replacement for Odion Ighalo, who has seen his loan spell at the club come to an end.

Dzeko scored 72 times in 189 appearances during his time with Manchester City, including 50 goals in 130 Premier League outings between 2011 and 2016.

United signed Edinson Cavani on a free transfer last summer, while Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood are also options for the 20-time English champions in the centre-forward position.

Chelsea 'firmly in the mix for David Alaba'

Chelsea are reportedly 'definitely in the mix' for David Alaba as the versatile defender seemingly prepares to leave Bayern Munich on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old's contract at the Allianz Arena is due to expire at the end of June, and it looks increasingly likely that he will be seeking pastures new for the 2021-22 campaign.

A number of clubs, including Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Real Madrid, are said to be interested in signing the defender.

Meanwhile, a recent report claimed that Alaba is on the verge of being offered a lucrative contract by Manchester City to make the move to the Etihad Stadium.

However, according to Sky Sports News, Chelsea are also firmly in the hunt for the Austria international, who has scored twice in 24 appearances for the European champions this season.

The nine-time Bundesliga winner is currently free to enter into discussions with foreign clubs as he has entered the final six months of his deal with Der FCB.
