Result: Kevin De Bruyne lights up Manchester City's rout of Swansea City

Five different players get on the scoresheet as Manchester City thrash Swansea City 5-0 in their first game since being confirmed as Premier League champions.

Kevin De Bruyne was the star of the show as new Premier League champions Manchester City outclassed Swansea City in a 5-0 win at the Etihad Stadium this evening.

The Belgian scored a 25-yard screamer on the same day that he could be crowned PFA Player of the Year, an award he is vying for with Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah.

David Silva, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus were also on the scoresheet as the Citizens moved onto 90 points - five short of Chelsea's all-time Premier League-high total with three games to play.

There was a party atmosphere at Eastlands after Manchester United's defeat to West Bromwich Albion last weekend handed the title to City, who put on the football to match.

It took them only 12 minutes to open the scoring as Silva volleyed across Lukasz Fabianski and into the bottom corner from close range, after intelligent passes from Sterling and De Bruyne in the build-up.

Sterling soon got in on the act himself, tapping home Fabian Delph's cross from inside the six-yard box after the converted left-back had exchanged a cute one-two with Silva inside the left edge of the area.

A string of stops from Fabianski helped Swansea limit the damage before the break as he denied Jesus and Bernardo, and also kept out a left-footed piledriver from De Bruyne with a full-stretch diving save.

The visiting goalkeeper had no chance with De Bruyne's rocket on 54 minutes, though, as the 26-year-old playmaker cut across a ferocious shot which flew past Fabianski for his first league goal since January 31.

Although it was unlikely to be a route back into the match, Swansea squandered their best opportunity moments later when the unmarked Alfie Mawson headed over the crossbar from an inswinging corner.

City bagged number four just after the hour mark as Bernardo converted a simple rebound after Fabianski had saved Jesus's penalty, awarded for a reckless tackle on Sterling by Federico Fernandez.

Jesus was desperate to get in on the act but squandered another golden chance when he headed straight at Fabianski from eight yards out following an eye-catching dribble from 17-year-old substitute Phil Foden.

Benjamin Mendy, returning from a seven-month injury layoff, and Yaya Toure also got cameos off the bench as Pep Guardiola rang the changes, and it was the latter who supplied Jesus with the 88th-minute fifth.

The Brazilian striker was rewarded for his persistence when he broke the offside trap to run onto Toure's cross, and loop a much more difficult header than the one he missed over Fabianski and inside the far post.

It was Swansea's seventh straight defeat at the Etihad, and they still have some work to do to be here again next season, with only four points separating them and the relegation zone, and their goal difference having taken a hit.

MAN CITY (4-3-3): Ederson; Danilo, Kompany, Laporte, Delph (Mendy, 75'); Gündogan, De Bruyne (Toure, 65'), Silva; Bernardo, Sterling (Foden, 71'), Jesus

SWANSEA (5-3-2): Fabianski; Naughton, Van der Hoorn, Fernandez (Bartley, 67'), Mawson, Olsson (Abraham, 75'); Ki (Clucas, 65'), King, Carroll; Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew
