Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino's record vs. Bayern Munich

By , Senior Reporter | 4d
Sports Mole looks at Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino's goalscoring record against Bayern Munich from his time in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim.

Liverpool welcome Bayern Munich to Anfield on Tuesday night for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

The Reds' qualification for the first knockout stage went right down to the wire, requiring a late save from Alisson Becker to overcome Napoli 1-0 in December and book their place in the next round.

A daunting task now awaits 2018 runners-up Liverpool as they must overcome Bayern over two legs to progress.

If they are to have any hope of beating the German champions then forward trio Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will have to be at the top of their game.

Firmino knows Bayern well from his time in the Bundesliga, and with that in mind Sports Mole looks at his previous record against Die Roten.

The Brazil international came up against Bayern eight times during his four years with Hoffenheim, finding himself on the losing side six times.

Firmino's solitary strike against the reigning German champions came in a 3-3 draw at the Allianz Arena in March 2014, scoring the final goal of the match 15 minutes from time to earn his side a point.

That is one of only two occasions the 27-year-old has avoided defeat against Tuesday's opponents - the other being a goalless draw in October 2011.

Firmino has also never previously assisted a goal against Bayern, but that could all change in midweek as the Brazilian is now a far more dangerous player through the middle for Liverpool.
