Report: Brendan Rodgers being lined up as Frank Lampard replacement

Roman Abramovich will consider appointing Brendan Rodgers as Chelsea's next boss if Frank Lampard fails to turn around the Blues' poor run of form, according to a report.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly the man that Chelsea want to replace Frank Lampard should owner Roman Abramovich sack the club legend.

Lampard's job has been called into question following a run of five defeats in eight Premier League matches, which leaves the Blues 11 points off the summit.

According to The Mirror, Abramovich remains a big admirer of the iconic former midfielder and is desperate for him to succeed in management at Stamford Bridge, but he is not against the idea of bringing in someone else if results do not improve.

It is claimed that Rodgers, who previously spent time working in Chelsea's youth setup, is the preferred choice to succeed Lampard after impressing during his near-two years at Leicester.

The former Liverpool and Celtic boss is said to be tempted by the Chelsea job, but he will not consider leaving Leicester until the end of the campaign.

RB Leipzig's Julian Nagelsmann and Paris Saint-Germain's former boss Thomas Tuchel are also supposedly in the running to take charge.
