Huddersfield Town are reportedly giving consideration to appointing Chelsea coach Anthony Barry as their new boss.
Earlier this week, the Terriers announced that they had parted company with Danny Schofield, who had been promoted from Carlos Corberan's backroom staff in July.
The decision came after Huddersfield recorded just four points from their opening eight matches in the Championship, leaving the club in the relegation zone.
Huddersfield, with Narcis Pelach and Paul Harsley in caretaker charge, earned a much-needed 1-0 win over Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon.
Nevertheless, the hierarchy at the Yorkshire outfit are expected to use the international break to make a full-time appointment.
According to The Sun, Barry is one of a number of names who are said to be on Huddersfield's shortlist.
Although former Huddersfield head coach David Wagner remains the bookmakers' favourite, Barry may also hold talks with the second-tier side.
The 36-year-old was initially brought to Stamford Bridge by Frank Lampard in August 2020 before being retained by his eventual successor Thomas Tuchel.
Barry also has experience on the international scene, initially with Republic of Ireland ahead of being appointed as a member of the backroom staff with Belgium.
The Englishman has had six games working under Roberto Martinez ahead of the upcoming World Cup, which begins in November.
Should Barry make the decision to take any opportunity presented to him on the domestic scene, it would leave his position with Belgium in considerable doubt.
The report adds that Barry remains happy with life at Stamford Bridge and is not actively looking to depart his role with the West Londoners.
If Barry made the switch to the John Smith's Stadium, he would meet a familiar face in Tino Anjorin who is currently on loan at Huddersfield from Chelsea. body check tags ::
