Pep Guardiola raises concern over Kevin De Bruyne injury

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits that the apparent ankle injury Kevin De Bruyne suffered against Chelsea in their FA Cup semi-final "does not look good".

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is pessimistic over Kevin De Bruyne's injury after he was forced off in the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea.

The Belgian playmaker featured from the first whistle against his former club at Wembley, but he had to be withdrawn three minutes into the second half with an apparent ankle problem.

A De Bruyne-less City saw their quadruple hopes extinguished by Hakim Ziyech's winner in a 1-0 semi-final defeat, and in a further blow to Guardiola, he has admitted that the early signs from De Bruyne's injury are not promising.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Guardiola said: "It doesn't look good. He has pain. We will see. Tomorrow he will have a test."

As a result, De Bruyne's participation in next Sunday's EFL Cup final with Tottenham Hotspur has been plunged into doubt, and it remains to be seen if Sergio Aguero will recover in time for the clash at Wembley as well.

De Bruyne has scored eight goals and set up 16 more for Guardiola's side this season, and he recently committed his future to the Premier League champions-elect until 2025. body check tags ::
