Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Holtby is reportedly in talks with Blackburn Rovers over a potential move to the Championship outfit.

The 29-year-old, who represented Spurs between 2013 and 2015, is currently available on a free transfer after leaving Hamburger SV at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

According to Fussball Transfers, Holtby is in talks over a return to English football with Blackburn hoping to agree a contract with the three-time Germany international.

The midfielder only managed three goals in 42 appearances during his time with Tottenham, while he also represented Fulham on loan during the 2013-14 Premier League campaign.

The German scored four times in 26 outings for Hamburg in the second tier last season but did not extend his contract with the 2. Bundesliga side.

Blackburn have collected 10 points from their seven Championship matches this season to sit 12th in the table ahead of this weekend's clash with Reading.
