Lionel Messi 'still stalling over new Barcelona contract'

:Headline: Lionel Messi 'still stalling over new Barcelona contract':
Lionel Messi still has no immediate intention of extending his contract with Barcelona after being irked by various off-field issues this year, according to a report.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi is reportedly still stalling on a new contract at Camp Nou due to the chaotic nature of the club off the field.

The Argentina international is rumoured to have informed Barca last week that he intends to depart Catalonia when his existing deal expires next year.

Despite being given assurances by the La Liga giants, the Daily Mail claims that Messi is reluctant to commit himself to a new deal as he is still angry at various controversies this season.

The report indicates that Barca's failure to re-sign Neymar last summer and sporting director Eric Abidal's attempt to blame Messi for Ernesto Valverde's sacking in January irked the 33-year-old.

Messi is also rumoured to be furious at president Josep Maria Bartomeu after he employed a company to run negative stories about the superstar forward.

On the field, meanwhile, Barca trail bitter rivals Real Madrid by four points with four games to play. body check tags ::
