Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti emerges as a January transfer target for AC Milan, according to a report.

AC Milan are reportedly lining up a move for Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti.

The 28-year-old was strongly linked with a move away from the Catalan giants over the summer, but the transfer window closed with the Frenchman still at Camp Nou.

Umtiti has not made a single appearance for Barcelona this season, but he still has more than 18 months left to run on his contract with Xavi's team.

Milan have long been linked with a move for the defender, and according to Sport, the Italian giants could step up their interest after losing Simon Kjaer to a long-term knee problem.

The report claims that Kjaer's season-ending injury is likely to force the Serie A club into the January market, and Umtiti is viewed as an ideal low-cost signing for the club.
