Mesut Ozil's proposed move from Arsenal to DC United could reportedly hinge on his interest in opening a coffee shop at their stadium.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil's proposed departure to MLS side DC United is reportedly dependent on a business deal involving a coffee shop.

The Gunners are open to the prospect of the 30-year-old leaving the Emirates in the near future as they are keen to offload his £350,000-a-week wages to free up funds for more signings.

In recent days ambitious MLS outfit DC United have been linked with his signature as they look to replace big-money signing Wayne Rooney, who will be leaving the club for Derby County in January.

According to The Athletic, Ozil is keen to open a branch of his 39 Steps Coffee chain in the US and has earmarked DC's Audi Field stadium as a possible venue should he make the move.

The publication claims that the German's representatives will shortly begin talks with DC over a potential transfer, with his high salary expected to prove the biggest stumbling block in getting a deal done.

Ozil has just entered the final two years of his current contract with Unai Emery's side.
