Arsenal are trying to beat Everton to the signing of Barcelona attacker Malcom, according to a report.

The Toffees are believed to have made their move with a £31m opening offer for the 22-year-old, who is not part of Ernesto Valverde's plans.

Malcom struggled to break into Barca's first team following his £36.5m move from Bordeaux 12 months ago, making just six La Liga starts in his debut campaign at Camp Nou.

That has not put Everton off making an approach, though, and The Sun claims that fellow Premier League club Arsenal are also keen to sign him.

The Gunners are supposedly hoping to convince the Brazilian to reject a switch to Everton and instead join them.

Arsenal have already missed out on Wilfried Zaha this summer because of Crystal Palace's £80m valuation.
