How Manchester City could line up against Arsenal

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester City could line up for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola only has concerns over one player ahead of Wednesday's top-of-the-table Premier League showdown with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

Nathan Ake was unavailable for the weekend's FA Cup semi-final win over Sheffield United due to a thigh injury, and the Dutchman will need to be carefully assessed over the next 48 hours.

However, the champions otherwise have a clean bill of health for the visit of Arsenal, and Guardiola will revert to his strongest XI after ringing the changes for the trip to Wembley.

Ederson will no doubt come back in goal for Stefan Ortega, while Ruben Dias should make a swift return to the backline in place of Kyle Walker, as Manuel Akanji and Aymeric Laporte - the most obvious deputy for Ake - hold their places.

John Stones is also poised to resume his inverted role, pushing Sergio Gomez out of the XI in the process, as a well-rested Rodri joins the Englishman in the engine room.

Kevin De Bruyne was also given the day off on Saturday and is in line to displace Julian Alvarez, while captain Ilkay Gundogan could get the nod over Bernardo Silva, who was run ragged by Bukayo Saka when deployed as a left-back at the Emirates.

Silva could very well put his name into the hat for a start on the right wing, but Riyad Mahrez's FA Cup hat-trick means that he is in no position to be demoted, as Erling Braut Haaland and Jack Grealish complete the front line.

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Ederson; Akanji, Dias, Laporte; Stones, Rodri; Mahrez, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Grealish; Haaland
