The Arsenal hierarchy reportedly retain faith in Mikel Arteta despite the Gunners' woeful start to the new season.

Arteta oversaw Arsenal's 14th FA Cup triumph during his first half-season in charge, but he has struggled to win over the crowd over the past year following an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League last term.

The Gunners have opened the 2021-22 campaign with back-to-back 2-0 defeats to Brentford and Chelsea and must also take on Arteta's former club Manchester City before the end of the month.

However, Arsenal are without a hefty contingent of first-team players due to injury or illness, and The Mirror claims that the board are sticking by the Spaniard for now.

The report adds that the powers-that-be are aiming to assist Arteta with late transfer business in the current window as Arsenal attempt to offload Lucas Torreira, Sead Kolasinac, Eddie Nketiah and Hector Bellerin before the deadline.

Arteta has won 47, drawn 16 and lost 25 of his 88 games in charge of Arsenal, who next face West Bromwich Albion in Wednesday's EFL Cup second-round tie.
