Patrick Vieira has claimed that Unai Emery should be provided with more time in the Arsenal dugout.

After a poor run of form in the Premier League, Emery is under pressure to keep his job at the Emirates Stadium.

However, with the Gunners board allegedly prepared to remain patient with the Spaniard, Vieira feels that club officials are taking the right stance regarding their recent struggles.

The club legend is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "I think it is a club that's going through a really difficult period, but you have clubs going the same way, I think is never easy when you change manager, especially after Arsene [Wenger], who spent 20 years over there.

"And I think [Manchester] United went through the same spell, Chelsea went through the same spell. And I think what people need is to be calm and to give the manager a time to resolve the issues."

Arsenal currently sit in sixth position in the Premier League standings, eight points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City.
