Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey in contention for Manchester City fixture?

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is reportedly in contention to face Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday after recovering from a calf injury.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has reportedly put himself in contention for the club's Premier League opener with Manchester City.

Ramsey had been considered a doubt for Sunday's fixture at the Emirates Stadium due to sustaining a calf injury during the latter stages of pre-season.

However, according to the London Evening Standard, a return to training this week has resulted in the Wales international handing manager Unai Emery a fitness boost ahead of the visit of the top-flight champions.

Ramsey is said to have made an appearance among the rest of his teammates on Thursday, and the 27-year-old will now be considered for selection at the weekend.

The playmaker has been linked with a move away from the North London outfit all summer due to less than a year remaining on his contract, but it has been suggested that a new deal could be penned in the near future.
