Juventus defender Merih Demiral ruled out for season

Juventus defender Merih Demiral - an alleged target for Leicester City and Arsenal - is ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.

Juventus have been dealt a blow after defender Merih Demiral was ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.

While the centre-back has recently been linked with a move to Leicester City and Arsenal, the 21-year-old has just broken into Maurizio Sarri's starting lineup.

However, the Turkey international will play no further part this campaign after rupturing his ACL in Juve's fixture with Roma on Sunday evening.

Demiral is now expected to be sidelined until the weeks before the start of next season, ruling out him of representing his country at Euro 2020.

Leicester and Arsenal will also have to turn their attentions elsewhere as they look to strengthen their respective backlines before the end of January.
