Arsenal 'to make loan bid for Jerome Boateng'

Arsenal reportedly plan to make a loan bid for Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng before the end of the January transfer window.

Arsenal have reportedly identified Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng as a potential loan addition.

With Calum Chambers having sustained a season-ending knee injury, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is keen to bring in a replacement before the end of the January window.

According to the Daily Star, the Premier League outfit are ready to move for Boateng, who may be allowed to leave the Allianz Arena.

The Germany international, formerly of Manchester City, is allegedly ready to take on a new challenge away from the Bundesliga giants.

While Bayern may consider allowing Boateng to find a new club, the 31-year-old has still made 14 appearances in the top flight and Champions League this season, leaving his team to contemplate alternatives of their own.

Despite Boateng having just 18 months left on his contract, Arsenal are unlikely to consider a permanent transfer.
