Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Arsenal on Friday, September 25.

The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Arsenal eye possible reinforcements.

The Gunners spent more than many expected last summer - most notably their club-record purchase of Nicolas Pepe - but were more reserved in January as they focused on bolstering their defensive options.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings at the Emirates Stadium.

Friday morning's Arsenal transfer talk news roundup:

Arsenal 'handed encouragement in Thomas Partey pursuit'

Arsenal's hopes of signing Thomas Partey this summer have reportedly been handed a boost with Atletico Madrid closing in on the signature of Lucas Torreira.

The Spanish outfit are unwilling to consider Torreira as part of a swap deal for Thomas, who is still thought to be one of Arsenal's top transfer targets in the current window.

However, Atletico are interested in completing a separate deal for Torreira, which Sky Sports News claims could pave the way for Thomas to move in the opposite direction.

Arsenal are hoping to get £22m for the Uruguayan midfielder, which they would then look to reinvest in bringing Thomas to the Emirates Stadium.

Atletico are holding out for the Ghanaian's full £45m release clause, while the signing of Torreira would provide an immediate replacement in the middle of the park.

In addition to the Thomas, Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Lyon's Houssem Aouar this summer.

Arsenal to consider approach for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho?

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Arsenal.

The Gunners are said to be attempting to sign Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey and Lyon's Houssem Aouar before the end of the summer window.

However, with both deals bringing their own complications, it appears that the North Londoners are prepared to consider alternatives.

According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal have identified Jorginho as a fresh option as they bid to strengthen their midfield.

While the Italy international has started the season in the Chelsea starting lineup, Blues officials could be happy to cash in on the player for the right price.

The 28-year-old still has three years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
