Joe Cullen ends a four-match winless streak in the Premier League to emerge victorious in week seven, beating Michael van Gerwen in the final in Rotterdam.

Joe Cullen has won week seven of the Premier League, beating Michael van Gerwen in the final in front of his Dutch supporters.

Cullen, who is making his debut in the tournament, went into Thursday's event sitting at the bottom of the table, but the 2022 Masters champion held his nerve to earn success in Rotterdam.

The Yorkshire thrower produced some excellent finishes in the final, including a 118 checkout on the bull, and he hit six perfect darts in the decider before finishing in 14 darts.

Despite the disappointment of blowing opportunities before losing 6-5, Van Gerwen strengthens his position at the top of the standings, moving clear of Peter Wright and Jonny Clayton.

Earlier in the night, Cullen came from 5-3 down to defeat Gary Anderson by a 6-5 scoreline, the Scot accusing Cullen of gaining an unknown advantage during the closing stages of the game.

Each of the fixtures in the last eight went the distance with Anderson, James Wade, Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith on the wrong end of hard-fought contests. body check tags ::
