Jonny Clayton emerges victorious on week two of the Premier League, getting the better of debutant Joe Cullen in the final.

Jonny Clayton has won week two of the Premier League courtesy of beating Joe Cullen in Thursday's final in Liverpool.

The two players got the 17-week tournament underway in Cardiff last week, but they were the last two standing on the second edition of the 2022 event.

Welshman Clayton followed a 6-3 win over Michael Smith by edging out Gary Anderson by a 6-4 scoreline, while Cullen posted a 6-3 victory over James Wade before winning the last four legs to edge a last-leg thriller with Gerwyn Price.

Clayton was pegged back from 3-1 ahead in the final to 4-4, but he capitalised on missed doubles by his opponent to secure a 6-4 success.

While Peter Wright went into Thursday's action having won week one, the world champion suffered a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Michael van Gerwen in the first match of the night.

As a result of the Scot's early exit, Clayton heads the table by three points ahead of next week's competition in Belfast. body check tags ::
