Brian Snitker hails a "surreal" moment as the Atlanta Braves down the Houston Astros 4-2 to win the 2021 World Series and their first title since 1995.
Sports Mole

The Atlanta Braves won their first World Series title since 1995 with a crushing 7-0 victory over the Houston Astros in the sixth game of the series.

Brian Snitker's side stormed into a 3-1 series lead after four games, but the Astros pegged it back to 3-2 at Truist Park before the Braves' dominance came to the fore in game six.

Jorge Soler hit a trio of home runs for the Braves at Minute Maid Park, while Dansby Swanson and Freddie Freeman chalked up two each to clinch the prestigious title.

Speaking to FOX after the game, manager Snitker said: "It's awesome. It's a great feeling - you work so hard and give up so much and these guys especially - to do what they did is unbelievable.

"I look back at where we were when I got here at 16, and now we're holding a World Championship trophy. It's surreal."

Soler's exploits saw him scoop the World Series Most Valuable Player Award, while the title represented the fourth for the Braves following their 1914, 1957 and 1995 successes.

Meanwhile, the World Series crown is Snitker's first as a manager, with the 66-year-old leading the team that he has been a part of for 44 years to glory after initially joining as a minor league player in 1977. body check tags ::
