Result: Adam Peaty wins 50m breaststroke gold at World Championships in Budapest

Great Britain's Adam Peaty wins his second gold medal at the World Championships by winning the 50m breaststroke final.

Great Britain's Adam Peaty has secured his second gold medal at the World Championships by winning the 50m breaststroke final.

The 22-year-old has had a successful meet so far after winning 100m gold and setting two world records in qualifying for the 50m race.

In the final, Peaty, who won Olympic gold in Rio last year, was just 0.04 seconds down on his record after touching the wall in 25.99s.

Brazil's Joao Gomes secured the silver medal in 26.52s, who Cameron van der Burgh of South Africa completed the podium after finishing third in 26.60s.

Peaty has won 16 gold medals in his career so far, including five world titles, eight European crowns and two from the Commonwealth Games.
