England head coach Eddie Jones explains tactical switch for George Furbank

England head coach Eddie Jones suggests that he is attempting to counteract France's style of play by moving George Furbank to full-back.

Head coach Eddie Jones has revealed that George Furbank's move to full-back ahead of the France game is due to tactical reasons.

Ahead of the final game of the 2022 Six Nations, England find themselves in third position in the standings and unable to lift the title.

A number of changes have been made to the team ahead of the trip to Paris, including Furbank switching from back to full-back, and Jones is hoping to counteract France's trademark style, one which has proven successful of late.

Speaking at a press conference, Jones said: "It is tactical about the way we think the game is going to be played. France is the highest kicking team in the world so I don't think they are going to deviate away from that too much.

"They come through the centre with their big forwards and once they have tied you up a bit they spread the ball to their backs, but they don't do that without using their long kicking game to get them up the field."

Furbank will be making just his sixth England appearance, his debut coming in the corresponding fixture two years ago. body check tags ::
