The Professional Footballers' Association's awards rounded off the sporting weekend.

Liverpool centre-back Virgil Van Dijk was named the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Players’ Player of the Year for 2019.

Van Dijk saw off tough competition from Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling.

Norwich City and Sheffield United were promoted to the Premier League, while Valtteri Bottas took over the lead in the world championship after victory in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
