West Bromwich Albion quartet to face community service for stealing taxi?

Jonny Evans, Gareth Barry, Jake Livermore and Boaz Myhill could reportedly face a period of community service for their part in stealing a taxi during a trip to Barcelona.

The four West Bromwich Albion players accused of borrowing a taxi during a club trip to Spain could reportedly be hit with community service as a punishment.

Club captain Jonny Evans and fellow first-teamers Gareth Barry, Jake Livermore and Boaz Myhill are understood to have broken a club curfew during a warm-weather break to Barcelona.

The quartet have since apologised for their part in the incident, which allegedly saw them drive a taxi from a McDonald's drive-thru to their team hotel while the driver was inside buying them food.

West Brom have launched an internal investigation into the incident, while Evans was stripped of the captain's armband for the weekend defeat to Southampton, but more punishment could be in store.

Police will reportedly not claim that the players intended to steal the taxi - which was later returned to its owner - but merely borrowing it without the driver's permission could be enough for them to be handed a fine or up to 90 days' community service.

West Brom currently sit bottom of the Premier League table, seven points from safety.
