FIFA has opened an investigation into allegations of racism highlighted by Liverpool and England Under-17 striker Rhian Brewster.

The teenager has alleged that his international teammate Morgan Gibbs-White was racially abused by a Spanish player during the U17 World Cup final in October.

In a revealing interview with The Guardian, Brewster claimed that he had either experienced racial abuse personally or witnessed it seven times.

The young forward, who joined Liverpool's academy from Chelsea in 2014, stated that five of those alleged incidents occurred in the last seven months.

According to the Daily Mail, a FIFA spokesperson has confirmed that the world governing body is "analysing and gathering evidence" after receiving a complaint from the Football Association.

The investigation is centered around Brewster's claims that Gibbs-White was called a "monkey" by a Spanish player during England's 5-2 victory over Spain in Kolkata.
