Ukrainian hooligans claim responsibility for Liverpool attack

A group of Ukrainian hooligans known as the "Troubled Company" claim responsibility for an unprovoked attack on Liverpool fans in Kiev earlier this week.

A gang of Ukrainian hooligans known as the "Troubled Company" has claimed responsibility for an attack on Liverpool fans in Kiev earlier this week ahead of their Champions League final with Real Madrid.

A gang of around 20 people launched an attack on Reds fans at the Rooster restaurant at around 8.30pm on Thursday, leaving many needing medical attention.

In a post on Instagram, the Troubled Company - fans of the now-defunct club CSKA Kiev - assumed responsibility and vowed that there will be an "active weekend" to come.

"The holiday of the big football enters the active phase," the post read. "A volley of a lot of improvised items got the guests of the capital. A couple of shareholders were detained by garbage. For today this is the first information of this kind."

According to The Mirror, British police are concerned that the attack may have been a "warm-up" orchestrated by Russian hooligans ahead of England's participation in the World Cup next month.
